What is TRIAC LED power supply?
The TRIAC LED power supply is a dimmable constant voltage LED driver for phase locked (leading edge) dimming systems.
The LED driver converts the AC input to a stable DC output and interprets the chopped waveform from the dimmer to provide smooth, continuous adjustment of LED brightness.
It is often used in retrofit lighting projects and where conventional dimming equipment is already installed.
How TRIAC Dimming Works?
TRIAC dimming works by cutting part of each AC half-cycle. The dimmer delays the conduction angle that reduces the effective power supplied to the LED driver.
- Longer conduction angle → higher brightness
- Shorter conduction angle → lower brightness
The LED driver must decode these waveform changes and convert them into stable DC output levels.
