SK6812 Neopixel RGB LED Strip
Chinese Professional Indoor Pixel LED Lighting Manufacturer & Supplier
The SK6812 neopixel RGB LED strip is a type of addressable LED strip that is similar to the WS2812B LED strip. Both are DC5V and RGB addressable.
The SK6812 LED strip can be controlled using a microcontroller, such as an Arduino. The 5050 RGB LED can be individually controlled due to its built-in SK6812 IC chip. You can realize that each LED displays a different color and brightness independently, thus creating highly individual and dynamic lighting effects.
SK6812 Digital LED Strip Product Feature
- Each meter has 60 addressable RGB LEDs, a width of 10mm (60 LEDs per meter), and a DC5V input, allowing you to control each LED individually! You can set the color of each LED’s red, green, and blue components with 8-bit PWM precision (that’s 24 bits of color per pixel).
- The LEDs are controlled by shift registers, which are connected in series along the strip.
- A single digital output pin is needed to send data down the strip.
- PWM is built into each LED chip, so once you’ve set the color, you can stop communicating with the strip and it will continue to control the PWM for all the LEDs.
The SK6812 is very similar to the WS2812B. Since the interface and color sequence are the same (so SK6812- and WS2812B-based LED strips can be connected together), it can be a drop-in replacement in most applications. The main difference between the two drivers is that the SK6812’s LED color and brightness are voltage independent over a wider voltage range, meaning the LED color is not affected by power supply voltage drops like the WS2812B does.

What is the difference between SK6812 and WS2812B LED Strip?
Both SK6812 and WS2812B are addressable RGB LEDs that can be controlled using a single data pin, and each LED on the strip can be controlled individually to display a different color or brightness level. They are commonly used in a variety of applications such as flexible LED strip lighting and decoration, rigid LED bar lighting, and digital LED tube stage lighting.
Here are some similarities and differences between the two:
Similarities of SK6812 and WS2812B
1. Both SK6812 and WS2812B protocols have the same pinout configuration.
2. Both SK6812 and WS2812B LED strips have built-in ICs that allow for independent control of each individual LED.
3. Both can produce a wide range of colors by adjusting the intensity of the red, green, and blue components.
4. Both of them don’t have a pixel break-continue function (Breakpoint resume function).
Differences between SK6812 and WS2812B
1. SK6812 neopixel RGB LED strip has a higher PWM frequency 1200Hz higherthan WS2812B, which is 400Hz
2. SK6812 has a built-in white LED component including both RGB and RGBW, while WS2812B does not which support only RGB
In general, both the SK6812 and WS2812B are excellent options for addressable RGB LED strip lights. SK6812 neopixel RGB LED strip is considered an upgraded version of WS2812B due to its higher PWM frequency and wider voltage range, and the SK6812 has a faster refresh rate. However, WS2812B is still a popular choice due to its lower cost and widespread availability.
