Q1. Govee led strip lights only half working
–Background: I bought the 100ft Govee external led strip lights. It comes in two 50ft sets. My first set lights up perfectly. But when I connected the 2nd set they would not turn on. But the first set that I installed works. I even disconnected the first set then took the 2nd set back to the power supply and they turned on. So there’s nothing wrong with them except…only half turn on.
A1: Pls check the settings in the app make sure you choose how many strings you have. The following screenshots might help you how to find this. It’s got three steps–firstly select your lights then select the settings wheel finally check here in settings. Another trouble shooting suggestion is that you have to connect all the lights and then plug them in. You can’t plug them in and then start connecting lights as you go. So now they are all connected, press reset button and unplug the power supply from the wall, wait for 10 second. Then plug them back in.

Q2. Govee TV backlight not working
–Background: My Govee TV lights on side and bottom were not working right. What’s bothering me is . You know the youtube video either the color balls that go around your screen to text them? Well, the top works great, but the sides and bottom don’t change color. I’ve calibrated 100× trying different points but nothing works. Any ideas?
A2: You need to redo it so that you can see all the orange blocks on the screen and drag the sliders appropriately. Make sure you do the calibration in total darkness. Any reflection or light can affect the calibration. If you wanna completely start over, you could reset the camera by holding in the top power button and then clicking the second button four times. The color wheel is working because it extends toward the middle part of the screen which your camera is picking up. Those colored balls go right around the edges so they tell you if you are getting the entire screen on your camera. Did you click on Light Screen Installation Direction when you did your calibration? This is very important so make sure you go through that and select the correct setting.
Q3. Govee not working with Alexa
–Background: I developed issues with adding Govee lightbulbs with my Alexa setup. I can’t seem to figure out if this is an issue on the Govee side or the Alexa side. The accounts are linked, I have multiple of the same model lightbulbs already working, but new ones won’t seem to add. They appear in the Govee home app and operate properly within it, yet Alexa never detects them. I examined the connection between the accounts by adding a Govee smart plug to the app, and it was linked to Alexa without any issue, but the Bulbs simply refuse to do so. They’re the H6008 model. And I’ve tested this with multiple new ones and none of them will show up.
A3: Make sure you’re connected to the same 2.4 connection on both your phone or whatever device your Govee app is on, and your bulbs. Check that your Bluetooth is on. Make sure the bulb is powered on. You also might want to check and make sure you have the latest version of both Alexa and the Govee app. If still not working, you could consider deleting your Govee account and create a new one. All Govee light bulbs are back to showing a red network status and not connecting to Alexa. Probably going to require another account reset. Sometimes this simple yet genius trick was the solution.

Q4. Govee car lights not working
–Background: I just installed my strip lights, but they’re not turning on. They’re connected to power and a ground, but I don’t get anything. Any ways to troubleshoot?
A4: If you’re trying to ground it using just a nut and bolt thats probably the problem. Throw a ring terminal onto it, and try bolting to up to something attached to the body. You might have to sand down some paint to get it bare metal. There are far better ways to do this and you’ll also want to add a fuse in line. You probably also want to add some power regulator in line to ensure you don’t damage the lights due to voltage changes.

Q5. Govee outdoor lights not working
–Background: I purchased Govee outdoor permanent lights H705AAD1 (100ft) and attempted to splice them between the two soffits seen here. I used heat shrinking tube to insulate and hold the splice. The cut is on the 5th strand between the 8th and 9th led light. All the other 4 strands work fine. However, the 4 lights after the splice on the 5th strand and the entire 6th light strand do not illuminate. I subsequently attempted to utilize the additional extension included in the Govee box. Since I didn’t need for it, I cut and stripped it to repurpose the wire as the spliced extension which is currently in use. I’m at a loss. Please help!
A5: pls check if your splices are making good contact or you wired them correctly. If it wasn’t the connections so I thought maybe the last light from the power side where you made the cut was not sending a signal to the rest of the light. Somehow the last light just quit working where you cut it and spliced. May have shorted out during the process. So if you are trying everything and it’s still not working, it may be a faulty light right where you cut it. Once you lopped it off and spliced them again, the rest of the lights might work.
Q6. Govee string lights not working
–Background: Govee RGBIC LED outdoor strip lights as seasonal Christmas lights – need help!
I plan to install clips in my eaves and then install Govee LED strip lights and remove them after Christmas, leaving the clips in place for next year. Below is the product I plan to use. I think the 2 roll pack will be suitable for me, with two 32-foot strips. However, I will require one strip to be further from the power which is adapter than the other strip. It doesn’t look like Govee provides an extension cord, so my only option will be to splice with my own power cable? Does anyone have any idea about how much cord there is between the power adapter and then start of the LED strips on H6173 (2 roll LED package).
A6: You could cut them off the controller and used 18/3 wire to extend them, so you could start each strand exactly where you needed. Besides, you could use waterproof solder seal connectors to reconnect them and then use heat shrink and electrical tape for extra weather proofing. As for the animations – you can’t dictate where the patterns start unfortunately. They always start at the side of the strip where the power comes in. That’s why all the strands should be cut from the controllers. So you could start them all where you needed. Also Grouping the controllers allows you to synchronize the patterns/colors so all of them fire in unison. Check the post about the strip light install for your reference: Post Link

Q7. Govee bluetooth not working
–Background: My addressable led strip is not working on the app. It’s been working perfectly for the past month, all of a sudden the Bluetooth has stopped working on the app. This means that I could no longer control them from my phone. I’ve tried resetting them, leaving them unplugged for a few days, but nothing has worked. Please could you help?
A7: Maybe try restarting it. Seemingly you have lost connection to your Govee light Strip both Bluetooth and wifi… so you had to reset the light strip and add it in the app again. To reset and power-on the light strip, then hold down the power button and tap the music sync button 4 times. The strip should start flashing to indicate that it’s resetting and ready to link.
Q8. Govee wifi not working
–Background: I have tried everything. I purchased an 8 pack and spent over 3 hours attempting to connect these h6008 bulbs to my WiFi. I have ATT dual band internet and I’ve tried 3 of the 8 light bulbs in this set to connect to my wifi and they have all failed. my WiFi has no mac filter and is WPA2 secured. It’s ATT Fiber 300mbps. I also double checked the WiFi name and password each time before connecting and they were absolutely correct. There is one thing to note: when I connected each bulb at the very beginning, my WiFi app sent me a notification that a new device had joined the network, but the bulb failed to connect to the Govee app then. I don’t know what that means. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but it’s strange that none of these 3 bulbs are connecting.
A8: pls check your app preferences first. Your Govee app’s location settings may be preventing the bulbs from connecting. you had location use set to only while using the app. So try to changed it back to ALWAYS ALLOW, the bulbs might start connecting. Another idea is that you could edit the 2.4GHz settings by creating a new SSID with a simple name and password. Then you connect your phone and the smart device to the new SSID. The reason your device couldnt connect initially was that it remembered your old SSID (Wi-Fi name), which occasionally operated on 5GHz. Some devices cannot reset themselves completely. Most of them stay in pairing mode but don’t erase the old Wi-Fi settings.
Q9. Govee music sync not working
–Background: I just bought two Govee Lyra’s that are sitting in the same room and I like the idea of using the music mode, but for some reason they don’t seem to be in sync. One of them may change colors a few seconds before the other and their patterns just don’t line up. Although this is setting them to the same room and selecting the music mode from there. Is there any way to get these to sync up exactly so that their patterns are always on the same rhythm?
A9: Disconnect and reconnect the devices to the music sync device. Pls click the music sync box under devices, scroll to the bottom, and add the devices to music sync control if you have not, then disconnect and reconnect them. Or have you tried setting up Dreamview with them? When you go to just one light it gives you the option to set up music Dreamview. Then you can add the other lamp to it and they will be synced.
